Lord, you have my attention, and with your grace, my permission. Cut away everything that obscures your purpose and will. Help me to let go of what I do not need, of the pieces of my life that I hold onto instead of trusting your plan. Teach me how to surrender what keeps me from fully answering your call. Give shape to who I am by showing me who I am not. And as the future unfolds, reveal the intricacies of your plan for my life. May your presence with me fall like snow on the gift of each day, fully formed like no other; unique and beautiful, a design awaiting your hands.

(written by Samuel F. Pugh, Salesian Missions)

O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry; when I have work, help me to remember the jobless; when I have a warm home, help me to remember the homeless; when I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer; and remembering, help me to destroy my complacency and bestir my compassion. Make me concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted. Amen

...from "God's Grandeur" by Gerard Manley Hopkins
The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil; It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil Crushed. Why do men then now not reck his rod? Generations have trod, have trod, have trod; And all is seared with trade; bleared, smeared with toil; And wears man's smudge & shares man's smell: the soil Is bare now, nor can foot feel, being shod. And for all this, nature is never spent; There lives the dearest freshness deep down things; And though the last lights off the black West went Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs -- Because the Holy Ghost over the bent World broods with warm breast & with ah! bright wings.

Our Catholic Faith and Life committee is a new committee which was recently tasked with creating a resource list of known and proven web site links best designed to share valuable Catholic Christian web information with parents and families in our St. John's School and the parents and families of our St. John's Parish community at large. That list has been prepared, and it is our recommended list to the parents and families of St. John's School and the St. John Parish community at large.  To view that resource list, which includes the links and a brief description of the contents of each site, please browse to our new Catholic Faith and Life Committee's Web Resource List for Parents and Families.
